![]() She lifts her chin and sets her hands on her hips. “That’s what you say when I’m right!” You groan and cover your face. “Ugh! Shut up.” “Is that Master Obi-Wan I hear?” she teases. “He gives pretty good advice, doesn’t he?” The beginning of my training overlapped the end of his by a wide margin.” “Okay!” You hold up a hand, cutting her off. “We’re close, alright? We have the same master. “No? The bickering, the inside jokes, the -” Please don’t say it’s obvious, you pray. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “Nothing.” Ahsoka shrugs, innocent. “Just that you seem to have a certain rapport with him, that’s all.” Your voice, however, shakes just a little. “What’s that supposed to mean?” For the millionth time, you’re grateful for the blessing of an excellent poker-face. You keep one hand on your lightsaber, and tighten your grip before you answer Ahsoka. Footsteps echo off the dark metal walls it smells like metal and rust. Your group turns a corner into a long hallway no droids in sight. She scoffs and rolls her blue eyes. “I see more everyday why you and Anakin get along so well.” There’s something more in her voice than she puts in the words, a certain slyness that you wouldn’t pick up on - unless you knew her as well as you do. “Exactly.” You wrap an arm around her shoulders. “You get me, kid.” Not like you showed me that double-twist flip or anything.” It’s good to compliment her, even if she isn’t strictly your padawan. “That was some really great lightsaber technique, Ahsoka,” you say. You’re with Ahsoka and Rex’s men, mopping up the last of the battle droids in the secret lab. There are no more bombs and the virus is deactivated. You take a gulp of air, tighten your grip on your saber and dive after your master off the edge of the gunship. You give your head a shake the moment’s passed. He’s only a little older than you - a year at most - but you can’t help wanting him to be proud of you. Unbidden, an image of his flashing blue eyes and dimpled smirk springs to mind. As always before you risk your life, you think of Anakin, and your stomach twists. Whatever happens, that virus cannot escape. Lives are at stake, and you can’t afford to forget that. Anakin and Ahsoka - and more to the point, all of Naboo and possibly the galaxy at large - are depending on you right now. Right in front of you, Master Obi-Wan looks just as calm and collected as ever. The faster beat of your heart, your shallow breath, the way the air’s swirling and the floor of the gunship vibrates under your boots. You let the world slow down just a little and notice details: There’s a brief second, right before you jump, where you let yourself feel afraid. Warnings: Mentions of death (obviously), sickness, battle (Padme is lovely and I will not hear a word against her!) But an incident involving the deadly Blue Shadow Virus makes it look like you’ll never see him again….Ī/N: I honestly had no idea what to do with Padme or Jar Jar Binks for this particular story, so I sort of left them both out. There’s always been a certain bond between you and Anakin it helps that you’ve got the same master in Obi-Wan. ![]()
